Welcome To Final Exams At Kwantlen

As Christmas quickly approaches, people seem to be ready for the short but sweet break from busy every day life. Unfortunatly for College and University students around the world, there is a little thing called finals exams to tackle before a break is warrented. Today, December 12th, exams begun at Kwantlen University College in Richmond, BC and will stretch on as late as December 22nd. As I myself am now in progress of writing my 5 exams, I would like to wish all of my fellow students good luck through the next week and a half!

Michael Vick sentenced to 23 months in prison

Michael Vick was sentenced Monday in Richmond, Va., to 23 months in prison for his role in a dogfighting conspiracy. The Atlanta Falcons quarterback acknowledged he used "poor judgment" and added, "I'm willing to deal with the consequences and accept responsibility for my actions."

Here's the classic case of a young guy with wayyy too much money and nothing constructive to do with it. Why does the justice system even both handing down such an insignificant sentence of 23 months? Oh and let us not forget if Mr. Vick behaves like a good boy, he may get out 3 months early. Can anyone in their right mind actually believe that this man actually believes that he did something wrong and now understands how he must ask as a human being in our society?

It's about time we stop elevating sports "stars" to such high status and alowing them to believe they are kings and queens among the scum of the earth that is your avarage person.

If I might just go out of character for one second here... Michael Vick.. you dumb fuck, I hope the world never sees you on a professional football field again.

Pickton found guilty on 6 counts of 2nd-degree murder

Let me start out slowly here with definitions of First and Second Degree Murder:

Second Degree Murder - a non-premeditated killing, resulting from an assault in which death of the victim was a distinct possibility.

First Degree Murder - a killing which is deliberate and premeditated (planned, after lying in wait, by poison or as part of a scheme), in conjunction with felonies such as rape, burglary, arson, involving multiple deaths, the killing of certain types of people (such as a child, a police officer, a prison guard, a fellow prisoner), or with certain weapons, particularly a gun.

Now that this has been made very clean, you must ask yourself; Were the Pickton jury members out to lunch on the first day when these distinctly different definitions were given?

Now don't get me wrong, I do understand that even without any additional trials, this man will never again be free in society, but at the expense of hundreads of thousands or tax payer money, I as a citizen expect a jury to make the correct decision. In addition to that, we now look ahead to additional trial upon trial for the next groups of murders in which money will flow like water and Mr. Pickton will continue to kick back, relax and enjoy the media attention like a T.V. superstar.

It's unfortunate that O.J. wasen't a Canadian. In comparing crime severity to punishment, he would most likely be a Premier by now... and why not? If the glove fits..... right?
